The 2007-08 Lipan Indians had another championship season with a record of 27-8. In Coach Chandler's second season, they were again 10-0 in district. A special historical note is made of the fact that all 8 competitive losses were to highly ranked teams with 6 being to Class 2A programs, 5 of which ended the season in the TABC top 20. Being able to play such quality teams was the product of Lipan's tradition of successful basketball programs.

For the 7th consecutive year, 10th in the last 11 years, Lipan's boys played in the Region 3 Tournament hosted in Nacogdoches by Stephen F. Austin University. In the last 18 years, the Indians have won 16 district championships and 2 as runner-up. For the 13th consecutive year the Indians reached the 3rd round of the playoffs, and it was their 16th in 17 years.

Until the regional semifinals loss to Avinger High School, Lipan was ranked 3rd statewide by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. The TABC ranked them 8th in the post state tournament list. Laneville defeated Avinger for the regional championship to go on to win the Texas Class A Division II state championship in Austin.

The TABC chose Cory Williams (sr), Kyle Stephens (sr) and Seth Riddle (jr) to the All-Region team for the 2nd year in a row. Kyle Stephens and Seth Riddle were named to the 20 member All-State team in Class A DII.
.
District 17 honors: Co-MVPs - Kyle Stephens (sr), Seth Riddle (jr); Defensive Player of the Year - Ross Addison (sr); 1st Team - Cory Williams (sr), Ryan Drake (soph); 2nd Team - Lane Hedeman (jr); Honorable Mention - Chris Pitman (soph); Coach of the Year - Cody Chandler (2nd yr running).
.
Coach Chandler's win/loss record after 4 seasons was 92-37. His 2 season Lipan record was 52-17. Coach Chandler was an All-State player on Lipan's 1994 state championship team. Joining him for the 07-08 season was assistant Drew Howard in his first year of high school and junior high coaching. Drew, an All-State player himself, was the leading point producer on Lipan's 2003 state runner-up team.

This team completed their winning season at the Nacogdoches regional semifinals falling to the Tenaha Tigers . Lipan entered the game in pursuit of the school's 5th regional championship in a row. Notable for this team was that it returned no starters from the prior season, and Coach Cody Chandler, a member of the 1994 state champions, was in his inaugural year coaching the varsity. With this season, the Indians extended the school's streak of 17 district championships. Season record: 25-9. Was ranked as high as 5th in the state by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

2002 Boys Lipan Indians (Photo needed)

A blog contributor recalls this of the 2001-2002 Lipan Boys team:

Maybe one of the best all around teams to ever come out of Lipan. All they were missing was the hardware at the end of the year. Never have I seen a team that worked so well together. They didn't have a weak spot on the floor. Matthew Wright could score at will. Drew Howard for his size was probably the best post in the state hands down. Collin Wilkins was a sharp shooter from outside that could take you in and out. Collin was also probably one of the best defensive players to ever come out of Lipan. Justin Wood was a true point guard, very good ball handler. Bryan Pierson, well he was by far the best althlete on the team. The 6th man, even though he did not play that much (Coach Bleeker pretty much just played the main 5 the whole year unless foul trouble) was Clay Cook - a hustler who reminded me of his teamate Collin Wilkins. If only they had gotten past Brock just one more time, they just might have gone down as the best team to ever come out of Lipan!

2000 Boys Lipan Team 35-3, Regional Semifinalist. (Photo needed)

A blog source commented on the 2000 Bleeker team:

The 2000 team was in my opinion one of the best teams. Shane Trickey was a classy player who could score at will. Bobby Massey was an athletic lefty. Kelley Wartes and Nolan Cornelius were quick as lightning bringing the ball up. Brandon Howard did everything right. Sixth man Freddy Martinez was a defensive display. An overall great team who didn't lose til their 18th game of the season. The record that year was 35- 3. Great games displayed by this team.

An additional comment: The season ended in Blinn College at the hands of Moulton a powerhouse in the late 90's and early 2000's. It was the regional semi-finals, and the final score was 65 to 58. Trickey had 27 points leading all scorers.
